Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media

If you upload images to the website, your images may include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). This may be used to assist patrol volunteers in navigating to the originating locations of task requests if applicable. Please remove this data and/or disable this feature on your device before submitting photos if you do not wish to send such location data.

Cookies

If you leave a comment or create a task request using our platform, your name, email address, and/or other information may be saved in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies may last for up to one year.

If you visit our login page, we may set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies may last for up to two days, and screen options cookies may last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login may persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an entry on our platform, an additional cookie may be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the request ID of the entry you just added or edited. It expires after 1 day.

Profiles & User-Submitted Content

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely so that we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our platform, we may also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Platform administrators can also see and edit that information. A user’s unique user ID may be retained indefinitely so that we can enforce our terms of use, particularly as required by law.

If you have an account on this platform, have added task requests, or have left comments, you can request to receive the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Expectations

Users are expected to use our tools for the benefit of those around them. Before creating an outreach task, users are expected to confirm the consent of all parties involved to have an outreach team be made aware of the location where help is needed & to respond to that need.
